✦ We visited
We came for the pick-your-own and the kids ate more strawberries than we took home. Bring containers and check what is ripe before you set off.

Millets Farm Centre near Abingdon is part farm shop, part day out. The free-to-enter site has a large farm shop, restaurant, garden centre and seasonal pick-your-own fields, so plenty of families come for the food and stay for the play. It is an easy stop if you want to combine a shop with somewhere for the children to burn off energy.

The paid Millets Adventure Farm area is where younger children spend their time, with indoor and outdoor play, animals to meet, slides, sand and seasonal attractions. In summer the pick-your-own draws crowds for strawberries, pumpkins in autumn and a Christmas programme later in the year. Because the attractions are ticketed separately from the centre, you can keep the day cheap or build it up depending on what is open.

It works best for babies up to primary age. Older children may find it a shorter visit unless a seasonal event is running.

Good for: animals, outdoors, sensory. Ages: 0–2, 3–4, 5–7, 8–11.
