Broadway Tower & Country Park
Iconic folly tower on a Cotswold hilltop near Broadway, with huge views and a deer park.
Broadway Tower stands on one of the highest points of the Cotswold escarpment, a striking folly built as a landmark with views said to stretch across sixteen counties on a clear day. Families can climb the tower's spiral stairs to the rooftop viewing platform for that famous panorama, and explore the small exhibitions inside about its history, including its wartime role.
The surrounding country park is part of the appeal, with a herd of red deer to spot, open grassland and a nuclear bunker tour for older visitors who want something unusual. There is a cafe with a terrace that makes the most of the views, picnic spots and plenty of space to run on the hilltop. The grounds are largely free, with a charge for the tower and the bunker.
It suits toddlers up to older children, with the youngest enjoying the deer and open space and older ones the climb and the views. The hilltop is exposed, so wrap up, and the steep stairs mean carrying very young children.
Good for: history, outdoors, animals. Ages: 3–4, 5–7, 8–11, 12+.
